Gwyneth Paltrow is often mocked for indulging in expensive, wacky wellness remedies — but a source tellsg In Touch her latest treatment was no laughing matter.

The Goop founder, 53, revealed in a Wednesday, February 11, interview with the Daily Mail that she’d undergone therapeutic plasma exchange to help with “chronic fatigue” and “brain fog” she’s been suffering from.

Per the Daily Mail, the multi-session procedure clears toxins like microplastics and mold from the blood and costs upwards of $49,000.

“People love to roll their eyes at Gwyneth and call her kooky,” the source tells In Touch. “That’s not really fair in this case, though, because she’s really been struggling with her health.”

According to the source, it’s “amazing” the actress gets “so much done” considering the ongoing problems she’s had to deal with.

“A lot of people in her world think her insane schedule and all the demands she puts on herself for perfection are to blame,” adds the source. “Even with this health situation being a huge issue for her she really hasn’t slowed down.”

Paltrow told the Daily Mail she “felt this immediate unburdening and clarity and lightness” after getting her blood filtered.

But friends fear the high-priced treatment was just a temporary fix as she continues pushing herself to the brink, says the source.

“Everyone in her life is warning her to slow down,” notes the source. “If she doesn’t, she’s absolutely going to burn out.”
