Authorities in Mexico are reportedly in touch with the FBI amid the ongoing search for Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today host Savannah Guthrie.
The FBI has been in contact with Mexican law enforcement, according to sources who spoke to CBS News and ABC7.
Nancy has been missing since February 1, when she failed to attend a friend’s virtual church service, prompting a welfare check at her home in Tucson, Arizona. Authorities said it appeared she had been kidnapped from the residence overnight. She was last seen on January 31 after having dinner with her daughter Annie Guthrie and son-in-law.
Officials have not confirmed whether she may have been taken across the border, though the county in which Nancy lives lies close to Mexico.

A former FBI agent named Tracy Walder explained how the bureau coordinates internationally.
“The FBI contacts its Legal Attaché (Legat) offices worldwide primarily through the International Operations Division (IOD) at FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C.,” Walder told People. “I really can’t say if it’s standard practice or common. It really just depends if they think they have crossed the border.”
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has not confirmed whether Mexican authorities are involved.

FBI Director Kash Patel released footage from Nancy’s Nest camera showing a masked and armed man tampering with the device. Investigators also tested DNA from gloves found two miles from Nancy’s home, but the results did not identify a suspect.
The person believed responsible has been described by the FBI as a male, approximately 5’9” to 5’10” tall, with an average build, wearing a “black, 25-liter ‘Ozark Trail Hiker Pack’ backpack,” according to a post on X.
