Silas “Uncle Si” Robertson is recovering after a bad accident landed him in the hospital.
The Duck Dynasty alum, 76, fell off a boat during a “dangerous” hunting trip with costars Justin Martin and Phillip McMillan. The injury led to Uncle Si spending three days in the emergency room before being discharged to recover at home.
“Typical Silas Robertson, he’s in a dang hurry to get out of the boat and up the steep hill,” Justin, 39, explained during the Thursday, January 23, episode of the “Duck Call Room” podcast. “He fell trying to get out of the boat. He fell on his oxygen machine, but he bounced right back up. He didn’t want anybody to see that he fell. But he was covered in mud.”
Justin said Si tried to brush off the incident, but he grew concerned when the reality TV alum was “real quiet” as the day went on. He said the group tried to offer Si pain medication throughout the day, but he kept insisting he was fine. Si was later rushed to the hospital after a caretaker noticed the reality TV alum’s oxygen was getting “really low.”
“I said, ‘What is going on?’ And I figured he would start laughing and talking. But no, he said, ‘Man, I’m in a lot of pain,’” Phillip said about his interaction with Si during the podcast. After an X-ray, doctors ruled out broken ribs but suspected bruising from the fall. Medical professionals also believe that panic attacks may have contributed to his low oxygen levels.
“Things can go sideways pretty fast out there,” Justin said as he reflected on the emergency situation.

Uncle Si’s accident comes only days after A&E announced that Duck Dynasty was being revived after being off air for more than eight years. The “most-watched nonfiction series in cable history,” which aired from 2012 to 2017, peaked at 11.8 million views before the Robertson family decided “to focus on other ventures in 2017,” according to the official press release.
“The Robertsons earned a seat in homes across the country with their unique brand of downhome practicality, southern charm and relatable humor,” Executive Vice President & Head of Programming, A&E and Lifetime, Elaine Frontain Bryant, said in a statement. “Duck Dynasty played a huge part of the success of A&E for many years, and we look forward to reuniting with the Robertsons on the revival.”
The spinoff will follow Phil Robertson and Kay Robertson’s son Will Roberston as he and his wife, Korie Robertson, “grapple with mapping out the future of Duck Commander, watching the kids navigate marriage, children and businesses of their own, and passing down the family legacy.”
“Going back on A&E feels a little like going back home,” Willie, 52, and Korie, 51, noted in the press release. “We’re thankful for all who have followed along as our family has grown and expanded and can’t wait to get cameras rolling again on all our new adventures, or perhaps misadventures.”
Duck Dynasty: The Revival is slated to premiere this summer, with Uncle Si joining several other family favorites from the original hit show.
