Stay strong. Duane “Dog” Chapman revealed that he’s been diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism in a new teaser clip for the upcoming episode of The Dr. Oz Show, scheduled to air on September 30. The Dog’s Most Wanted star held back tears while discussing his health struggles, only three months after the passing of his wife, Beth Chapman.

While visiting Duane, 66, at his house located in Denver, Colorado, Dr. Oz informed the WGN America alum that he was a “ticking time bomb.” The talk show host also explained how important it was for Duane to take his medical issues seriously. “You’re not going to be here with the heart the way it is right now,” Dr. Oz said. “Fear of death is normal.”

“I’m surprised you don’t fear death when you’re chasing after convicts,” he continued. “But when you run away from doctor, that means you have to do your own doctoring.”

Duane became visibly emotional and said that after Beth passed away, he claimed that he wasn’t afraid to die on the show. “Oh, I was afraid to die. I said ‘please let go of my heart honey. Quit squeezing my heart, so I take that back. I’m not afraid to … but I don’t want to,” the reality star admitted.

As fans may recall, Beth tragically lost her battle with cancer on June 26 and Duane was beside himself with grief, after spending more than 30 years with such an incredible woman by his side.

In a new interview with PEOPLE, Dr. Oz spoke about Duane’s loss and explained why he felt the reality star was “denying” life-saving health care after his hospitalization in September. “[Duane] was fearful,” he said. “Beth had been his north star. She was the one that would go with him and keep him balanced so he could deal with these things. Losing her took away his biggest support.”

Dr. Oz also mentioned how Beth would want him to take care of himself so he could live his life to the fullest. “I don’t think she’d be happy with what you’re doing,” the health expert explained. “‘You’re throwing away your life, you’re throwing away your ability to parent your kids. You have to man up.’ That’s what she would say.”

After the teaser clip aired, Duane’s daughter, Lyssa, also took to social media with a heartwarming statement. “Very grateful for [Dr. Oz] coming to help my dad,” she wrote. “Please tune in Monday to see how he was able to help our family.”
