Duane Chapman Reveals He Turned to Therapy After Losing His Beloved Wife Beth: ‘Keep Fighting Big Guy’

Getting by with help. Duane Chapman revealed that he turned to therapy in the wake of his beloved wife’s death, while taking to Instagram on Friday, December 27, with an update about how he’s coping. The Dog’s Most Wanted star said he is still mourning the devastating loss of his spouse, Beth Chapman, after nearly 30 years together.

“Going to my shrink for 6 months now ever since Beth left me I am not sure if it works let you know in another 6,” the WGN America alum wrote in his vulnerable caption. After seeing his candid confession, several fans shared supportive words.

One of his followers commented, “It’s hard [you] just learn to breath after awhile. One day at a time.” Another sweetly wrote, “Keep fighting big guy,” while a third added, “Prayers to you Dog. I can’t imagine losing the love of my life and longtime partner … Keep doing what you have to do to get through each day. Love you.”

When one mentioned how the holy spirit is “cheaper than a shrink” and another way to manage emotional pain, Duane, 66, replied, “It is like praying, but the shrink answers back.”

The TV personality has been very open about his grieving process over the past few months, ever since the tragic news broke about her death in June following a long battle with cancer. She was only 51 at the time.

Before her untimely passing, the couple was trying to cherish every moment spent together. “She has told me repeatedly that if these are her last days on earth she wants to spend every moment with me on the hunt, living life to the fullest and enjoying the time we have left together,” Duane (a.k.a. Dog) revealed to the Daily Mail in March.

“I have cried a lot over this because Beth is my everything,” he tearfully shared. “Despite all of the obstacles I have overcome, this is by far the biggest test of my life.”

In August, Duane said that he was struggling to come to terms with her no longer being around, now that it had become a reality. While chatting with In Touch exclusively, the 66-year-old admitted that he never thought it would be “this bad.”
