Chris Brown was reportedly arrested in Manchester, England, over a 2023 nightclub incident during which he allegedly attacked a music producer with a bottle of booze.

The “Sweet Love” artist, 36, was arrested around 2 a.m. on Thursday, May 15, at The Lowry Hotel after arriving overseas earlier that afternoon on a private jet.

‘’A 36-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Manchester shortly after 02:00hrs on Thursday, 15 May on suspicion of grievous bodily harm,” Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) told The Sun in a statement. “He has been taken into custody where he remains. The arrest relates to an incident at a venue in Hanover Square on 19 February 2023.”

In Touch exclusively reported in October 2024 that the R&B singer was accused of blowing off a lawsuit initiated by music producer Abe Diaw, who alleged that the attack was unprovoked.

In the filing, Diaw, who claims to have known Brown for several years, accused the pop star of smashing a bottle of Don Julio 1942 over his head while at Tape nightclub in Mayfair, London. The lawsuit was filed in October 2023 and Diaw argued that he’s owed $16 million in damages.

Diaw said he had Brown served at his L.A. home in February 2024 and again in April 2024 but the singer has allegedly failed to respond.

“Despite this proper service, [Chris] has failed to file any response to the Complaint or the first amended complaint, exceeding the statutory time limit for doing so. As of October 1, 2024, it has been 141 days since defendant was served with the first amended complaint,” the motion obtained by In Touch read. “[Chris] has remained noncompliant, effectively abandoning his opportunity to contest the claims set forth in the complaint.”

In his lawsuit, Diaw said he was knocked unconscious by the hits from Brown. He claimed the performer proceeded to stomp on him after the bottle attack. Diaw said he had to be hospitalized following the alleged assault.

In court documents, Diaw said he suffered head injuries and torn ligaments in his legs. The lawsuit said the club possessed footage of the alleged assault.

Brown has yet to respond to the case or the request for $16 million in damages. Live Nation, who was named as a defendant in the lawsuit, denied all allegations of wrongdoing.

As In Touch previously reported, Brown is in the middle of another ongoing lawsuit with a former employee, a housekeeper named Maria Avila, who claimed she was attacked by a large Caucasian Orvchake/Caucasian Shepherd dog named Hades at the singer’s home on December 12, 2020.

She alleged that the dog ripped chunks of skin from her body and accused Brown of negligence, claiming he knew the dog had a history of aggression.

Avila’s lawyer said, “[Maria] is informed and believes that this was not the first instance in which the defendant’s dog Hades viciously bit, attacked, mauled, and injured a human being, and that the defendants were aware of this dog’s prior dangerous attacks, biting, killer instinct and aggressive proclivities.”

She demanded $90 million in damages from Brown. Brown denied all allegations of wrongdoing.

In Touch exclusively revealed that Brown fired back at the lawsuit on April 22, submitting bombshell evidence to dispute Avila’s claims that he did nothing to help her.

“This is patently false, as indicated by the statements [Maria] herself made to Animal Control Officer Angela Hooks in the days following the incident,” Brown’s lawyer wrote. “Instead of ‘doing nothing,’ as [Maria’s] motion so contends, [Chris] ran to [Maria’s] aide, called the paramedics to come tend to her and even removed the dog from the area, perhaps putting himself in danger by doing so.”

Brown maintained he was unaware that Hades posed any danger, contradicting Avila’s claims that the dog had a troubling past.

Emil Lewis, another member of Brown’s security team, claimed he was the actual owner of Hades. He stated that he had repeatedly warned Avila and her sister not to leave the house unattended, explaining, “because the dogs would wander the property and were not familiar with either of the women; either dogs or the women could be scared.”

“[Chris’] security team explicitly instructed [Maria] and her sister not to go outside unattended, and [Maria] blatantly disobeyed this instruction, causing this unfortunate incident to occur,” the singer’s lawyer added. “As indicated by the foregoing, [Maria’s] Motion is riddled with wild exaggerations and false accusations in an attempt to build up some semblance of a claim for punitive damages against Defendant.”
