Done for Good! Cardi B Is ‘Not Taking’ Offset ‘Back This Time’ Following Divorce News: ‘He’s Crushed’
Moving on. Cardi B is “not taking” ex Offset “back this time” following news of their divorce, a source tells In Touch exclusively.
“She’s done with him,” the insider notes. “She’s finally empowered, and she’s glad they never had the big wedding they were planning on. Offset is trying to play it hard like he’s fine with it, but he’s not, he’s crushed.” They added the Migos rapper, 28, was “blindsided.”
In Touch confirmed Cardi filed for divorce in Fulton County, Georgia on Tuesday, September 15. The “WAP” artist stated her marriage with Offset is “irretrievably broken” and there are “no prospects for a reconciliation,” according to documents obtained by In Touch. The Bronx, New York native asked for an “equitable division of all marital assets,” as well as their debts.
The duo were first romantically linked in February 2017 after attending the Super Bowl together and wed in September that same year. In January 2018, however, Cardi (née Belcalis Marlenis Almanzar) confirmed Offset (née Kiari Kendrell Cephus) was at the center of a sex tape cheating scandal, three months after secretly tying the knot.
In a February 2018 interview with Cosmopolitan, Cardi opened up about the situation and why she decided to stay.
“I know I look good, I know I’m rich, I know I’m talented. I know I could get any man I want — any basketball player, football player,” the now mother of one — who shares daughter Kulture with Offset — said. “But I want to work out my s–t with my man, and I don’t got to explain why.”
“I’m not your property. This is my life … I’m going to take my time, and I’m going to decide on my decision,” she added. “It’s not right, what he f–king did — but people don’t know what I did, ’cause I ain’t no angel.”
The power couple hit a rough patch again in December 2018 when Cardi revealed via social media that they broke up.
“I been trying to work things out with my baby father for a hot minute now,” the Grammy winner explained to her followers. “And we’re really good friends and you know we’re really good business partners and you know, he’s always somebody that I run to, to talk to and we got a lot of love for each other, but things just haven’t been working out between us for a long time.”
Though they decided to stick it out at the time, it sounds like they’re officially over for good.
