Cardi B Claps Back at Fan Who Claims She’s Not a Good ‘Role Model’

Don’t mess with Cardi B! After a fan called her out on Twitter on Saturday, April 6, for being a bad influence, the hip-hop queen had an epic response.

“I love you A LOT but I don’t agree with the messages you’ve been sending us young girls,” the follower wrote. “So many of us look at you as a role model and that should send a very loud message.”

Shortly after, the 26-year-old explained herself. “For these past two years I have been watching what I say and I haven’t been myself,” she said. “I been feeling trap and sad cause it’s not ME but everybody tell me to be it for me to be this ‘role model’ and guess what? People still spit my past right in my face, so for now imma be my old self again.”

Many of her other followers had the “I Like It Like That” crooner’s back. One person wrote, “Do you. You’re great, intelligent and interesting and that’s plenty for anyone to look up to,” while another echoed, “Do good, people say trash. Do bad, people still say trash. The best way to survive the world is just do what’s comfortable with you, whoever wants you as a role model should want you for your authenticity, not what everyone else thinks you should be! DO you!” A third person chimed in, writing, “Young girls can find role models in people in their actual lives. If anything, that can appreciate you being unapologetically yourself. Now that’s something to look up to. Be yourself!”

This isn’t the first time the brunette beauty has gotten candid with her loyal fanbase, either. On March 24, the Grammy winner was in hot water after an old video of her resurfaced where she admitted she used to “rob” and “drug” men during her stripper days.

“I had to go strip, I had to go, ‘Oh yeah, you want to f—k me? Yeah, Yeah, yeah, let’s go back to this hotel,’” she said in the Instagram Live video from three years ago. “I drugged n—ers and I robbed them. That’s what I used to do.”

Afterward, Cardi apologized in a lengthy Instagram post. “So, I’m seeing on social media that a live I did three years ago has popped back up. A live where I talked about things I had to do in my past right or wrong that I felt I needed to do to make a living,” she wrote on Tuesday, March 26. “I never claim to be perfect or come from a perfect world wit [sic] a perfect past. I always speak my truth, I always own my s—t. I’m a part of a hip-hop culture where you can talk about where you come from, talk about the wrong things you had to do to get where you are.”

Fortunately, many people rallied behind the star for keeping it real. “Well said, boo. We all have been there and had to do s—t we not proud of, but the important thing is you continue to rise above it,” while another echoed, “Head strong, baby girl. You’re growing and evolving. More than others can say about themselves. We love you!”
