Don’t spit out your drinks, but Brooke “Pumkin” Thompson was spotted out in public nearly 20 years since starring in Flavor of Love season 1 in 2006.
The Sun shared a video and photos of Brooke, 45, running errands around Bakersfield, California, where she resides, on Tuesday, May 6. The VH1 alum’s sighting occurred four days prior.
Brooke, who donned baggy athletic shorts, a green V-neck top and flip flops, held a handicapped parking permit while exiting her home and hopping into her vehicle. The outlet obtained a video of Brooke walking out of an establishment and into her SUV, which was parked in a handicapped spot. Like her reality TV days fighting for Flavor Flav’s clock chain, Brooke sported short blonde hair that fell to her shoulders.
Prior to Brooke’s rare sighting, she gave an interview to VH1 in 2016. At the time, she revealed that she lived in her hometown, worked at an accounting firm and was single with no children. Brooke told the network why she went M.I.A. after her time in the spot, and the reason wasn’t as big as one would think.

“It takes so much of your life away … I just got so wrapped up in it when I did have it. I was obsessed with it. I wouldn’t do anything else and if I was doing the shows and I didn’t have to work 40 hours a week and I had more time to do it, I would do it,” she shared. “I kinda feel like some of it is just ridiculous, like how some of [the girls] act like they’re still some big TV star. Yeah, we were big back in the day, you know what I mean? But like, we’re not this generation of reality television stars. I’m not gonna come out with a perfume line and do s—t like that because that was back then. I guess I’m just centered. That was the past, if it happens again and we can be big again like that.”
Brooke instantly earned a spot in the reality TV hall of fame after she spit in Flavor of Love costar Tiffany “New York” Pollard’s face following her elimination before the finale – the women went by Pumkin and New York, 43, at the time. Pumkin’s bodily fluid landed on New York’s chin, leading her to run behind Pumkin, grab her by the hair in the back of her head and throw her into the cameramen.
During Brooke’s 2016 interview with VH1, she reflected on the moment that has become a pop culture treasure, calling her spat an in-the-moment “emotional” act.
“I was pissed. It’s the lowest thing you can do to someone, pretty much. I didn’t think about it. It wasn’t premeditated. It just happened,” Brooke said at the time. “I wasn’t like, ‘OK, I’m in elimination. OK, I’m gonna do this so that we make a name for ourselves and the show’s number one.’ I was really so pissed off.”
When Brooke watched the fight for the first time, along with fans when the episode aired, she was shocked that the fight became the talk of the town.
“It just came out and then afterwards I was like, ‘Oh my God.’ I didn’t know it was gonna be like, the headlines on newspapers. They called it the spit heard around the world,” she continued. “I never ever anticipated that it would be as big as it actually was. I mean, it’s still one of the greatest reality TV moments and that’s just so crazy to me.
