Britney Spears’ ex husband Sam Asghari is packing on the PDA with new girlfriend Brooke Irvine – which is stirring up sad feelings for his famous ex, who’s going through a rough patch right now and bracing herself for a lonely summer, a source exclusively spills to In Touch.

“Britney’s relationship with Paul just crashed and burned again so she’s single and not happy about it,” the source explains, referring to the pop star’s on-again, off-again romance with Paul Richard Soliz, who she reportedly called it quits with for good earlier this year.

According to the source, it doesn’t help that Sam’s new squeeze has been compared to her in the looks department.

“Seeing Sam all in love with a girl that looks so much like a younger version of her is heart wrenching,” adds the source. “She doesn’t want Sam back, or at least she says she doesn’t, but she does admit it really sucks to see that he’s just moved on with his life while she’s still stuck trying to get over their divorce.”

Her whirlwind relationship with Paul was “really just a reaction to things falling apart with Sam,” the source notes, but he was initially just “supposed to be a fling,” not a full-fledged romance.

“It’s great that she’s ended things with him, but with Britney it’s very hard to know what will stick, especially because she’s been thrown for a loop by having to see those happy pics of Sam and his girlfriend,” continues the source. “That does make her more vulnerable for falling back under Paul’s spell. She knows it’s not a healthy situation but she’s also got nothing to replace it, so at the moment she’s very lonely.”

This comes after Sam and Brooke made their red carpet debut as a couple at the grand opening of The Tryst hotel in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, in April. The venue is described on their website as a “luxury gay boutique that offers an upscale, inclusive experience” for travelers from the LGBTQ+ community.

“I’m here to celebrate all colors of the rainbow,” Asghari told People at the time. “This community is always gonna be a huge impact in my life. I’m a big ally because they understand love.”

“Love is about everybody,” he continued. “I’m always gonna support this community, and I love the fact that I get the opportunity to do so.”

As In Touch previously reported, Sam and Britney’s split was confirmed in August 2023 when the personal trainer filed for divorce. He listed their separation date as July 28, 2023.

“Their marriage has been on the rocks for months,” an insider told People at the time. “There has been constant drama. It’s sad.”

Their divorce was later finalized in May 2024.

“The divorce was amicable and the prenup was not challenged,” a separate insider said. “Britney is continuing to flex her freedom and is moving on. The report that she is in financial distress is false and she is not on any lease for him.”
