An old Instagram comment from Brian Hickerson is resurfacing following the death of his on-and-off girlfriend, Hayden Panettiere.
The comment was originally posted in June 2026 on an older Instagram post belonging to Hickerson, according to Page Six. A user questioned whether any woman would date him, prompting Hickerson to respond with a reference to his past domestic violence case.
In the since-deleted comment, Hickerson wrote that if a woman “gets out of line,” he could point to information about himself as a reminder of what he was “allegedly capable of.”
The comment has received renewed attention because of Panettiere’s death on August 16.
Panettiere and Hickerson had a tumultuous relationship beginning in 2018. He was arrested multiple times in connection with allegations involving the actress and ultimately pleaded no contest in 2021 to two felony counts of injuring a partner.
Despite their history, the pair reconnected in recent years. They were photographed together as recently as March 2026.
Hickerson was also with Panettiere when she died, according to a police report. His brother, Zach Hickerson, was also at the residence.
Authorities have said there were no initial signs of foul play, and Panettiere’s cause and manner of death remain pending.
Hickerson’s attorney has since issued a statement asking people to allow the investigation to proceed.
