She seemed to be in good spirits. Beth Chapman joked about her husband, Duane “Dog” Chapman, just hours before she was placed into a medically induced coma on June 22. “And that’s the fourth time this week he’s mowed the lawn,” she tweeted on Saturday. “What do you think? Does the man have something on his mind or he just forgot how many times he’s mowed the lawn? #AskingForAFriend.”

The 51-year-old’s health apparently took a turn for the worse in her ongoing battle with cancer, and her husband tweeted on June 23, “Please say your prayers for Beth right now thank you love you.” The next update the 66-year-old shared was on June 24, when he posted a photo of his wife’s hand, bedazzled fingernails and all. “You all know how she is about HER NAILS!!” he captioned the shot.

Beth’s family shared details about the state of her health in a statement with local TV news station Hawaii News Now. The former Dog the Bounty Hunter star was admitted into the ICU at the Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii on June 22, where she was placed under a medically induced coma. Duane and the Chapman family “humbly ask everyone to please pray for Beth,” the statement noted. They also send their “sincere thanks to everyone for their prayers throughout Beth’s battle with cancer.”

Bonnie Chapman, Beth’s daughter, also gave fans an update on her mom’s condition via her Instagram Story on June 23. “There’s not much of an update I can give,” she captioned a photo of equipment in the hospital. “I can say she’s getting good care. I know you guys wanted more but [you know], it’s a coma. [Not] much can be updated.”

Beth was first diagnosed with stage 2 throat cancer in September 2017. She went through cancer removal surgery and chemotherapy and was cancer-free by December 2017. However, in November 2018, she was rushed to the hospital again and had to undergo emergency surgery to remove a life-threatening blockage in her throat. Following that procedure, Beth learned that her stage 2 throat cancer had returned. Since then, Beth has been undergoing alternative treatments for cancer rather than chemotherapy. Her fans have been with her every step of the way, and their thoughts are with her and her family now, too.
