Stephen Stagliano and DeAnna Pappas
Bachelorette Alum DeAnna Pappas was thrown behind bars after an altercation with her ex-husband, Stephen Stagliano, and now she’s seeking a restraining order against him and is fighting accusations about her drinking, In Touch can exclusively report.
DeAnna and Stephen settled their divorce in June 2024, after 11 years of marriage.
On March 7, Lynn Stagliano, who appears to be Stephen’s mother, filed a declaration in the divorce, months after the exes hashed out their deal over custody and support.
Lynn said, “On Wednesday, February 26, at 7:38 a.m., I went to DeAnna’s house to help get Austin to school. I very clearly smelled alcohol on DeAnna’s breath. I put Austin in the car and left.”
DeAnna filed an opposition to an ex parte application filed by Stephen, which does not appear in the court record, claiming, “The basis of [Stephen’s] is based on his fabrication that I am an alcoholic. This is wholly false and fabricated as way for [Stephen] to gain leverage in his attempt to alienate the children from me.”

DeAnna accused Stephen of having a long history of “coaching our daughter to look for alcohol in the home.”
She claimed Stephen had coached their daughter to “literally sniff out alcohol and to alienate her from me by making her believe that I am an alcoholic.”
“I am not an alcoholic,” DeAnna wrote.
DeAnnna also filed for a restraining order against her ex-husband on March 7.
She claimed he showed up to her home on February 26 to pick up their daughter. She said she walked their daughter out to Stephen’s car when he arrived.
“Stephen told me I needed to walk closer to him because he wanted to smell my breath to make sure that I was not drunk. I had not consumed any alcohol. I ignored Stephen’s comment, and I walked back into the garage,” DeAnna wrote.
“I heard noise behind me. I turned around to see Stephen following me into my garage. [Our daughter] had been left alone sitting in his car with the engine running. I tried to shut my garage door. Stephen pushed my garage door upward so that it would not close. I shouted at Stephen to get out of my garage. Stephen refused to leave,” DeAnna added.
She said she went inside and locked her door. She said she walked back out after hearing noises in her garage.
“Stephen took his hands, grabbing me, and then forcefully shoved me. He pushed my back again. In fear that he would hurt me, I immediately went back inside the house and locked the door while I waited for the police to arrive,” she said.
DeAnna said Stephen called the police, who arrived around midnight. She said the police told her Stephen accused her of being drunk and that he was pressing charges against her for domestic violence.
“Stephen had told the Sheriff that I was the aggressor who assaulted him, which was false,” she said.

“At no time was I requested to test for alcohol despite Stephen’s allegations. In fact, the officer that arrested me exhibited no concern that I was at all intoxicated.”
Jail records show DeAnna was arrested on a misdemeanor charge on February 27, and released the same day on $20,000 bond. DeAnna claimed she voluntarily submitted to drug testing after being bailed out of jail. She said she tested negative for both.
In Touch reached out to Stephen’s lawyer for comment but did not hear back at time of publication.
In her petition, DeAnna asked for Stephen to be ordered to stay 100 yards away from her. A hearing has been set for later this month.
Per their divorce deal, the exes agreed to share joint custody of their two children.
DeAnna and Stephen also agreed not to drink around their children. The deal read, “neither party shall drink alcohol in excess of the legal limit during their custody periods, or have a child and/or children in their custody and control when being intoxicated.”
The exes also agreed not to consume narcotics within 12 hours before or during periods of time with the kids. The deal said DeAnna would be paid $1,000 per month in child support and an additional $1,500 a month in spousal support.
DeAnna, who appeared on season 11 of The Bachelor and then starred on season 4 of The Bachelorette, filed for divorce in January 2023.
In her petition, she listed “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the breakup. The date of separation was listed as the date of DeAnna’s filing. DeAnna demanded primary custody of their kids and spousal support. Stephen asked the court to award him joint custody of the children. DeAnna spoke out about the breakup.
“It is with immense sadness, Stephen & I have decided to end our relationship as a couple. We have been working hard for a long time — both as a married couple & as individuals — & have come to the conclusion to remain separate,” DeAnna said. She added, “We remain loving parents to our beautiful children, Addison & Austin, & will continue to raise them together with love & faith. We ask you to respect our privacy during this difficult time as we navigate the new normal. We want to thank our dear friends & family for your endless support & many, many prayers during what has become the most difficult time of our lives.”
