Are ‘Teen Mom’ Stars Ashley Jones and Bar Smith Still Together? Inside Their Rocky Relationship

Teen Mom’s Ashley Jones and longtime beau Bar Smith’s rocky relationship has played out on national television since their days on Teen Mom: Young and Pregnant. But despite privately tying the knot in a courthouse ceremony, fans are wondering if the pair have called it quits for good. in an exclusive interview with In Touch, and where their relationship is currently.

How Did Teen Mom’s Ashley and Bar Meet? 

The reality star couple first met in 2015, and a friendship quickly turned into a romance. Soon after, Ashley became pregnant with their daughter, Holly, when she was just 19. Holly was born in September 2017, and Ashley made her reality TV debut when she appeared on the MTV spinoff series in March 2018.

Although the couple had intentions to remain committed to each other, Ashley’s mom made it difficult for the pair to stay together because of her dislike and disapproval of Bar. The tension between Bar and Ashley’s parents kept rising until Bar was arrested for a conflict between him and his then-girlfriend’s parents in 2018. The duo found themselves getting into arguments and having trouble seeing eye-to-eye, and fans speculated their split in the summer of 2019.

Ashley then announced in November 2020 that the pair had been engaged since May 2019. The couple sparked marriage rumors when Ashley addressed Bar as her “husband” in an Instagram post in December 2021.

The pair’s engagement played out during season 10 of Teen Mom 2 and they admitted to “secretly” getting married during Teen Mom: Family Reunion, having tied the knot “five or six months” prior to the reunion filming.

Are Teen Mom’s Ashley and Bar Still Together? 

“You know, we’re just chugging along — learning something new every day,” Ashley told In Touch in March 2022, laughing when asked how her relationship with Bar Smith is going.

Ashley went on to say that “some days [she’s] ready to call it quits.” “Some days I’m like, you know what, we’re going the distance. I think it depends on what I’ve eaten, uh, how good I slept … there’s a lot of factors in there,” she added after being asked if she’d stand by Bar no matter what. 

The reality star revealed that one of the biggest challenges to their marriage was “definitely communication.” She continued, “You know when you’re not together, I mean, when you’re not married, it’s easy to say ‘I’m done, I’m over you, I’m leaving you!’ And then um, when you’re married, those words become ‘I’m divorcing you’ or [we’re] ‘getting divorced.’ And that’s just really heavy, so, I think that communication is the biggest thing because that avoids so many bigger, blown-out problems.”

During season 1 of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, Bar was facing up to six years in prison for a previous arrest and must complete 100 hours of community service as part of a plea deal. After failing to complete his court-ordered service, Ashley was seemingly at her wits end. 

“I’m not tired of playing his woman, I’m tired of playing his mama,” she told her mom in a video call during an August 2023 episode.

Just one week after the episode aired, Ashley took to Twitter seemingly accusing her husband of infidelity. 

“I told myself [I] would never be that bitch. It’s time for me to go,” she began on August 27. “So when you see me doing me please know I am single, and there has BEEN a line of handsome young men waiting…”

For his part, Bar chimed in claiming he “was not cheating.” “I don’t got nothing to say and I’m sure she’s gonna fly off the handle and say a bunch of s–t after this but whatever, this the last ima speak on this, but yes we are not together, that is true. And I wish her the best.”
