90 Day Fiancé newcomers James and Meitalia, who goes by the nickname Tatha, shared their love story on season 6 of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, and fans are curious if they’re still together after filming ended.
Are ‘90 Day Fiance’ Stars James and Tatha Still Together?
James and Tatha were already married when they started filming the reality show and they’re seemingly going strong following their time on the franchise.
James and Tatha affectionately have each other’s Instagram handles in their bios. “In love with @tatha_ventures,” James’ reads, while Tatha’s displays, “My other half @kary_ventures.”
How Did ‘90 Day Fiance’ Stars James and Tatha Meet?
The couple first connected on social media. They dated for two and a half years before they tied the knot, while James and Tatha were married for two and a half years when they made their reality TV debut.
Tatha hails from Indonesia, and she moved to James’ native Maine to pursue their relationship. She shared insight into the early days of their romance in the season premiere, which was teased in a clip from People.
She explained they dated for two months before James visited her in Indonesia for the first time. “He asked to marry me five days after he got here,” the reality star said. “It’s so fast. But I’m madly in love with him, and it feels amazing inside … You’re stuck with me!”
What Problems Have ‘90 Day Fiance’ Stars James and Tatha Faced in Their Relationship?
Fans can expect to see plenty of drama between James and Tatha on the show. In a teaser clip from the July 1, 2024, episode shared by People, James admitted he was afraid of his wife.
“Tatha is an amazing woman, but she is a very jealous woman. She’s told me several times. You ever cheat on me? I will take your d–k,” James recalled in a confessional while giggling. “It’s so scary, and I get so nervous.”
It appears that Tatha is aware of her temper, and said she can go from “one to 1,000” quickly. “For me, everything is so emotional,” she admitted. “I cry a lot.”
‘90 Day Fiance’ Star Tatha Doesn’t Like Living in Maine
Another issue in their relationship stems from Tatha’s dislike of Maine.
“This is ice. It’s not even snow or rain. It’s just hail,” James complained about the weather conditions as the couple walked through a forest in the teaser clip. Tatha responded that the weather is the reason she misses Indonesia, while James agreed that they had “pretty terrible weather” that day.
While Tatha clearly isn’t a fan of her new hometown, she explained she moved to Maine because Indonesian culture encourages wives to “follow” their husbands.
“So I came to Maine, and then we got married in 90 days, and now I live here for about two and half years,” she said in a confessional. “I love my husband to death, but I’m not happy here and I just can’t do it anymore.”
Tatha later returned to Indonesia, while James planned to join her at a later date. Both of them hesitated to tell their families about the permanent move to the Asian country. When James told his family he was leaving the U.S., they were disappointed and upset, and he faced more conflict with Tatha’s family in Indonesia.
James Feared a Clash With Tatha’s Family
When James finally met Tatha’s family during the August 5, 2024, episode, her parents were upset that he hadn’t learned their language yet. He feared that he would disappoint them further when they found out that he doesn’t have a job right now and doesn’t want kids.
Though James and Tatha had concerns about money, they kept up a united front and finally told her parents about the permanent move to Indonesia during the August 12, 2024, episode. Thankfully, her parents were happy and even offered to help them find their footing financially. After their initial loan was paid off, though, her father said to “never take a loan again.”
The following week, Tatha broke down in tears and fell to her knees to ask her parents for forgiveness because she felt like a burden to them. James began to feel like moving to Indonesia was causing issues in their relationship and considered heading home, which made Tatha concerned. Despite the uncertainty, the couple later moved into Tatha’s parents’ home permanently.
James and Tatha Disagree on Having Kids
Tatha eventually found out that James was leaning toward not having children, which upset her because she did want kids and thought he did, too. She told James during the September 23, 2024, episode that she wanted to live in Indonesia and start a family, which left the couple at an impasse.
James and Tatha’s Wedding Caused Tension
Despite already being married, the pair decided to host an Indonesian wedding since their first ceremony had been small due to COVID-19. James, who was already feeling a lack of privacy living in Tatha’s parent’s house, was growing frustrated with the Indonesia native’s father as he kept adding expenses to their wedding despite James being unable to secure a job.
James and Tatha’s relationship grew increasingly strained as he felt his wife was oblivious to their financial struggles and insisted they consider moving back to America. However, Tatha remained adamant about staying with her family and hinted she might stay behind if he decided to leave.
James also butted heads with Tatha’s sister, Angel, who had previously spread “malicious lies” accusing him of “mistreating women” in his relationships. Upon their reunion, there was a noticeable discomfort between James and Angel.
“You come to our life, and then gonna steal my sister?” she asked him, adding that she didn’t “trust” him. Angel stated that she wanted to make sure James could take care of his sister and emphasized that she didn’t want them to return to the States.
James Moved Back to the United States
During the season 6 season finale of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, James prepared to leave Indonesia, with Tatha choosing to stay behind as she wouldn’t decide whether or not she wanted to go. James ultimately bought a ticket for himself, which caused Tatha to feel blindsided by his decision.
Despite their disagreement, James agreed that he would assist in sponsoring her sister’s visa to the United States. Tatha’s parents were upset to find out about his decision to leave, with Tatha revealing that she didn’t trust that James would ever move back to Indonesia.
