Angelina Jolie Is ‘Terrified of Getting Hurt Again’ by a Man After Disastrous Marriage to Brad Pitt

Angelina Jolie continues to hang out with close friend Akala, and she’s also been seen chatting with Chris Rock, but sources exclusively tell In Touch she’s nervous to move into another relationship following her failed marriage to Brad Pitt.

“There’s a reason Angelina is still single, and it’s not for a lack of men lining up to date her,” says a source. “Fact is, she keeps them all at a distance because she’s so terrified of getting hurt again the way she did with Brad.”

As the source points out, “It’s been nearly a decade since they split up.”

Angelina, 49, and Brad, 60, first met on the set of the 2005 film Mr. & Mrs. Smith. At the time of filming, he was still married to actress Jennifer Aniston. However, a few months later, Jennifer, 55, and Brad revealed they were splitting in January 2005.

The two were legally married on August 14, 2014, and celebrated their nuptials a few days later during a private ceremony at Château Miraval. However, after two years of marriage, the couple separated on September 15, 2016, and it took only a few days before Angelina filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences.

Brad has since been linked to jewelry designer Ines de Ramon since 2022, while Angelina has not been seriously tied down.

“He’s moved on, but she’s frozen,” says the In Touch source. “Unless she finds a way to heal, the scars of their toxic relationship may prevent her from ever moving on.”

According to the insider, “Before she met Brad, she was so fearless and very quick to let love in, but these days she’s the complete opposite. She just refuses to allow herself to be vulnerable, and it’s obvious that her trust in men has been destroyed by what she went through with Brad.”

She’s also been a busy mother of six. The exes share Maddox, 23 Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16.

“For years, she’s used her responsibility to her kids as her reason not to get serious with anyone, but they’re pretty much all grown up now and doing their own thing, so she can’t use that excuse anymore,” says the source. “Now she insists she simply doesn’t care — that she’s happy being single — but no one believes her. Of course she’d love a partner, but she’s so damaged she may never heal enough to trust anyone again.”

Earlier this month, a separate source told In Touch that Angelina is getting quite close to rapper Akala, 40, despite the fact that he has a serious girlfriend.

“Angelina seems totally infatuated with Akala,” the source said. “Between the amount of time that they spend together and how cozy they are with one another, you’d never for a second think that he’s got a long-term girlfriend.”

In recent weeks, the Maria star has been spotted alongside the rapper and journalist. However, it was reported at the end of August that they are “not” dating and have been friends for “several years.” Instead, Akala has been in a relationship with Chanelle Newman.

Still, the source revealed, “She’s very touchy-feely with him, and anytime they’re in the same city, they meet up — really any chance she gets she’s with him.”
