Angelina Jolie’s nest is getting smaller as she revealed one of her children has moved into their own New York City apartment.
The Mr. & Mrs. Smith actress, 49, revealed one of her three sons were living on their own in a former apartment she bought in her 20s in an interview published by the New York Times on Tuesday, March 25.
Angelina shares six kids, Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 18 and twins Vivienne and Knox, 16, with ex-husband Brad Pitt. Although the Kung Fu Panda star didn’t specify which son, it is speculated to be Maddox, as Pax is frequently seen in Los Angeles, and Knox is still too young to live independently.
The mom of six told the outlet that her son was a typical guy in his 20s, joking that he was caught off guard when she wanted to stop by for a visit. “The other day I said I was going to pop by, and he was like can you just give me a day to clean?’ she told the outlet. “I thought, I appreciate that, you should clean up for your mother … But also, how bad is it?”
It was also noted the abode has turned into a “crash pad” for her five other children when they are in town.
Angelina largely keeps the lives of her children private. However, she previously told fans that Maddox was following in her footsteps by learning to fly planes.
“I am a pilot,” the Maria actress said during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in December 2024. “And my son Maddox is training to be a pilot too. He, actually, he is a pilot now.”
Angelina became a licensed pilot in December 2004, when Maddox was still 3 years old. She purchased a Cirrus SR22-G2 single-engine plane in early 2005 and paid homage to her plane-loving son by including the letters “MX” in the aircraft’s tail number.

In the same interview, she defended her decision to keep her kids out of the spotlight.
“My kids, I think some of them off-camera, behind the scenes, but they really, really want to be – especially Shiloh – they want to be private,” Angie said. “Just private, not photographed, not on the thing. I think, her most of all would like privacy.”
While host Jimmy Kimmel pointed out that it “must get so tricky” for the kids because of the fame of their parents and those around them, Angelina explained, “But it wasn’t their choice.”
She continued, “So some people are more comfortable with public, some people are more comfortable on talk shows. And some people are not.”
In recent years, Angelina and Brad’s children have often drawn attention for their relationships with their father, 61, some of which grew tense after the Mr. & Mrs. Smith costars began their divorce in 2016.
Zahara was one of the first to publicly disavow their dad after dropping her famous father’s last name during a sorority induction in November 2023. Younger sister Shiloh followed suit as it was revealed she was using the last name Jolie when her Instagram account was tagged by a choreographer in May 2024. Weeks later, it was revealed that Vivienne was listed as Vivienne Jolie in the Playbill credits for The Outsiders, which opened on Broadway on May 14, 2024.
However, sources exclusively told In Touch that Brad is determined to rebuild the bond he has with his children in December 2024. “It’s been a very hard road, but Brad is not giving up on his fight — he wants to save his family.”
