Adam Devine at "American Valor: A Salute to Our Heroes" annual gala in 2024.
Fatherhood is everything Adam Devine dreamed of and more.
“It was the best decision I’ve ever made,” says the Pitch Perfect alum, who welcomed son Beau with his wife of three years, actress Chloe Bridges, on February 16, 2024. “My only regret is not starting sooner.”
The baby also motivated him to drop 25 pounds.
“Having my son made me realize it’s time to grow up and take care of business,” says the 41-year-old. “I want to be able to play with him and stay in good enough shape so I can hopefully play with my grandkids!”
Here, the star of The Righteous Gemstones (the fourth and final season is airing now) talks to In Touch’s Lindsay Hoffman about his partnership with the MyFitnessPal app, his recent health scare and how he and Chloe feel about expanding their family.

When did you decide to get healthy?
AD: I [wanted to] go into fatherhood being the absolute best version of myself.
How did the MyFitnessPal app help?
AD: I’ve gone through periods where I was committed to working out regularly and eating fairly well, but I’ve struggled with staying consistent. I’d overdo it with beer and steak and nachos, cheeseburgers, ice cream … you name it. When I go, I go hard! MyFitnessPal allowed me to easily track my food, and then I could see how to get back on track after one off day or weekend.
What’s your diet like now?
AD: Rotisserie chicken is the MVP. The dirty bird is a staple in my kitchen. I use it in easy-to-prepare meals like salad or a chicken and sweet potato farro bowl. Go-to snacks are also a must. My favorites are cherry tomatoes, apples and protein bars.
Any foods you’ve sworn off?
AD: The “all-or-nothing” mindset hasn’t worked for me. It’s about balance. Have fun and enjoy yourself occasionally. If that means eating that smash burger — my favorite — just reset and move on. It’s about progress over perfection!
Tell us about Beau.
AD: Things get real very quickly when you have kids. I must be a child at heart because I love staying in on a Saturday night and playing with blocks.
Are you ready for another?
AD: Oh, I’m ready. My wife is the one that’s like, “Let me finish my mimosa.”
How has your marriage changed?
AD: You have to make time to be a couple. I have to remind my wife that I’m more than the guy she calls when there’s a poopy diaper.

Do you get date nights?
AD: We’re lucky we have family that wants to help. We got away for a few days over New Year’s. The other night we ordered sushi and danced in the living room. It was better than going out!
You recently opened up about being misdiagnosed with stiff-person syndrome. How are you doing?
AD: I thought I was going to die. It’s a scary disease, [but] they’ve since ruled it out and I’ve gotten a lot better. Beau has helped with that a lot — having someone to take care of and get my mind off of that has been a huge help.
What are your goals for the future?
AD: I hope to have a bigger family and work with kind, creative people. Also, maybe I grow a rattail. Who knows!
