In a teaser clip for the franchise’s latest show, 90 Day: Hunt for Love, shared by Peopleon Monday, May 19, Chantel, 34, reflected on her dating life following her divorce from ex-husband Pedro Jimeno.
“Eight years ago, when I got married to Pedro, I hung up my dating skills and I never thought I would need them again,” she said in a confessional, adding that her divorce isn’t the only reason she had new feelings about dating.
She continued, “Right before I came to the resort, something did happen with one of my friends. I was hanging out with my friend Ashley and we were drinking wine and she explains to me that she has feelings for me that are actually romantic.”
“Well, one thing led to another, and Ashley kisses me. I almost fainted, I was so shocked, and I really liked it,” Chantel recalled. “It felt like my first kiss ever. But at the same time, I was so overwhelmed at what it all meant because I have not ever thought about dating a woman.”
Chantel wrapped up the story by asking the cameramen, “What would that mean? What would that mean for me, my dating life, and my sexuality? Does this mean that I’m a lesbian? Just like that? I don’t know.”
Chantel first rose to fame while documenting her relationship with Pedro, 33, during season 4 of 90 Day Fiancé. After Chantel went to the Dominican Republic and secretly got engaged to Pedro, he moved to her native Atlanta, Georgia, on a K-1 visa and they wed in 2016.
Despite once seeming like a strong couple, Pedro filed for divorce from Chantel after six years of marriage in May 2022. The Dominican Republic native claimed that their marriage was “irretrievably broken,” according to court documents obtained by In Touch at the time.
The divorce quickly became messy when both Chantel and Pedro were issued mutual restraining orders, which prevented them “from doing or attempting to do, or threatening to do, any act that injures, maltreats, vilifies, intimidates, molests or harasses the adverse party.” Chantel filed counterclaims accusing Pedro of “adultery” and “cruel treatment” weeks after his initial filing. Both Pedro and Chantel’s restraining orders went into effect in July 2022.

After experiencing many ups and downs in the divorce process, their divorce was eventually settled during season 5 of The Family Chantel. The final season of their reality show premiered in November 2023.
While her romance with Pedro wasn’t meant to be, fans will get to watch Chantel continue her journey to find love on 90 Day: Hunt for Love. She will be joined by fellow franchise stars Colt Johnson, Usman AKA “Sojaboy” Umar, Rob Warne, Tiffany Franco, Cortney Reardanz, Tim Malcolm and Jeniffer Tarazona on the new show.
